CLASSICAL PILATES CLASSES

CLASSICAL PILATES – This class is focused on setting up the foundation of Classical Pilates movements.  Focus is on posture awareness, core strengthening, alignment, and body connection.  This is a perfect class if you’re just starting your Pilates journey, want to find a deeper connection, or want to get back to basics.  Please be aware that while this class may feel “slower” than some of our other classes, its focus on alignment, connection, and isometric holds will work your body just as hard!

CONTEMPORARY PILATES CLASSES

ATOMIC ABS – A full-body workout with an emphasis on your core. This class focuses on strengthening all of the muscles of the abdominal wall (not just those 6-pack superficial muscles,) the postural and back muscles, and your pelvic floor.  Get those crop top abs!

GUNS N’ BUNS – A full-body workout with an emphasis on your glutes and arms. Every move utilized will focus on sculpting a different section of your backside while mixing in arm work to get those long and lean muscles. We work your gluteus maximus, medius, AND minimus!

JUMP BOARD – Jump Board Class incorporates cardio and strength training to give you a sweat-inducing total body workout.  A springboard attached to the foot of the reformer gives you an additional surface to leap off of for a low-impact workout (always be good to your joints!) This class gives you leg toning, cardio conditioning, and constantly works your core.  It’s like laying down on a trampoline.  It’s good, hard, fun!

LEVEL 1.0 and LEVEL 2.0+ – These two classes offer a more Contemporary Spin, while still deriving from those Classical Pilates building blocks.

Level 1.0 (Beginner/Intermediate) is designed for everyone, whether you’re new to Pilates or a Pilates pro.
  In our Level 1.0 class, you will learn how to work with your Reformer and Wundachair and be educated on the proper techniques, all while challenging your body. We provide beginner to intermediate movement with clear instruction for a full-body workout. Whether you’re a beginner or an old pro, this class offers an always challenging but achievable workout that helps you feel great and get stronger.

Our Level 2.0+ (Intermediate/Advanced) is kicked up a notch.  There is an expectation that you already have an idea of what you’re doing (you know your way around a reformer) and we push harder, hold longer, move faster (or sometimes sloooooower for those juicy holds!) and give you an ass-kicking that will help you remember how much you love/hate your instructor the next day!

What class should I take?  What’s the difference between Classical Pilates and Contemporary Pilates?  Isn’t it all Just Pilates?

:: There are two schools of thought when it comes to Pilates, Classical (the system of exercises that Joseph Pilates invented, which he called Contrology) and Contemporary (a more modern spin on the original set of exercises.)  Classical Pilates will be a slower-paced class with a set regimented order with more focus on the building blocks of Pilates, set up and alignment, and proper form for few slower reps.  Contemporary Pilates will have a little bit more of a quick pace, a flow around the reformer, and no two classes will be the same.
:: Deciding which class for you is a matter of preference.  We recommend trying them all and seeing what works for you.  Classical Pilates is great for getting the form and precision in, it’s great for all clients, but especially anyone with injuries, anyone who’s using Pilates for Physical Therapy reasons, etc.  Contemporary Pilates is great for folks who want to feel that burn, get their body sweating, that just don’t have the patience for a slow burn.
